NECS Receives Prestigious 2023 Lehrer Prize

We have some incredible news to share! On June 15, 2023, NECS received the prestigious Lehrer Prize, an honor that recognizes individuals and organizations dedicated to enhancing the social and emotional well-being of children within and around schools. This year's theme focused on those who make a significant impact on our community's youth.

Our Executive Director Ridvan Idara had the privilege of appearing on Brian Lehrer's show to accept the 2023 Lehrer Prize, alongside two other outstanding non-profit organizations. During the interview, she highlighted the unwavering dedication and hard work that NECS has put into supporting the children and adolescents in our community. It was a proud moment for NECS and a testament to the profound impact our organization has had. This award included a donation of $2500 to NECS in support of the work we do.

This award is a recognition of the collective efforts of the entire NECS team. We are immensely proud to have spent a decade serving our community, and this honor only reinforces our commitment to continue our vital work. We are grateful to our teaching artist Anya Steger for nominating NECS for this award.
