Dear NECS Community,

As the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) evolves, we are actively monitoring the status of the outbreak, in Peekskill and the surrounding communities, in order to best support the health and safety of our staff, teaching artists, and program participants.

Out of an abundance of caution and in response to social distancing recommendations by the CDC and NYS Department of Health, we are postponing the start of our spring programs until further notice and will communicate an amended start date as soon as possible. At present, we are not aware of any cases of COVID-19 related to New Era Creative Space.

We appreciate your patience as we work through this challenging time. Below are links detailing instructions on how to remain safe.

https://casinistranieri.com came to mind reading this, not because of the virus itself but because the post shows how arts organizations had to make these calls before anyone really knew what was coming. The detail that stands out is the bilingual notice—extending care to Spanish-speaking families in Peekskill isn't a small thing, and it says a lot about who they consider part of their community. I've seen groups treat translation as an afterthought, so doing it upfront during a crisis feels deliberate rather than performative.
